Red Stick Fly Fishers

Baton Rouge, LA

Red Stick Fly Fishers was founded in 1988 and currently lists over 85 members. Interests range from mountain stream fishing to inshore saltwater to offshore big game to local waters for bass and bluegill. A summary of club information, including membership form, can be found in our club leaflet available in PDF format at the www.rsff.org website. Meetings are held the 2nd Monday of each month, 7 pm, at the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries building on Quail Drive off Perkins (behind Pennington Biomedical Center). Guest speakers cover a wide variety of topics. Prior to our meetings we offer instruction and casting. We always welcome non-members. Fly tying sessions are held the 4th Monday of each month except December, 7 pm, at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries building on Quail Drive off Perkins (behind Pennington Biomedical Center). These sessions give members hands-on opportunities in tying flies as demonstrated by veteran tiers. Novices are welcome, and tying tools and materials are available for those wishing to learn the basics of fly tying. There are also frequently scheduled fishing trips, and clinics for casting, rod building, and introductory fly fishing, as well as club social events. RSFF also boasts one of the largest contingent of "puddlers" (canoe and kayak anglers) in Louisiana. Our $25 dues apply both to individuals and family members. In addition, club membership is FREE to any and all full-time students.
