Mystic Riders Snowmobile Club

Princeton, MN

In 1968 a small group of local snowmobile riders saw the need for an organized trail system and a desire to socialize with other snowmobiliers, so they formed the Mystic Riders Snowmobile Club. The hard work and dedication to the snowmobiling exhibited by the club founders thrives today with the 90+ families that make up the mystic Riders. In the early years, the narrow trails were groomed with a 1971 Polaris Voyager pulling an old bedspring. Today, we operate 2 diesel powered Tucker Snow-Cat groomers that each pull a 20 foot leveling drag. Our 160+ miles of wide well-groomed trails provide an important link in the statewide trail system. As the quality of our trails grow, so does the need for financing this effort. This is accomplished by the Department of Natural Resources' grant-in-aid program in which snowmobile clubs are paid for grooming and maintaining the trails through snowmobile registration fees. The Mystic Riders also operate charitable gambling at various local sites to help pay the costs of building and maintaining trails. Our charitable gambling has also enabled us to help support many local groups such as; local food shelves, high school scholarships, Missing Children of Minnesota, rescue organizations, various youth groups and miscellaneous crisis fund raising groups. The Mystic Riders have organized club rides, trips and many other social activities available to it's members throughout the year. We realize the importance of our local trail system and the need to promote snowmobiling as a safe, fun form of recreation on order to preserve it for future generations. Our club, in coordination with the Minnesota DNR, provides snowmobile safety training to more than 150 area youth and adults each year. We are also a proud member of the Rum River Trail Association which puts on the Outlaw Grass Drags near Princeton Minnesota the last weekend of each August.
